“future mythologies: eurydice fragments, chinatown and inferno” – re:Naissance Opera’s IndieFest
IndieFest is a musical gathering that brings together artists and audiences from all walks of life to expand artistic practices, experience new works of art, and express creative voices.

This new festival, now in its fourth year, celebrates an emerging field in the performing arts sector. From new opera, to virtual reality, to Indigenous practice, to drag, the festival amplifies the imaginative forms of storytelling and diverse artists unique to the Pacific Northwest. IndieFest promises to be an artistic and cultural experience like no other.

IndieFest 2023 was from November 17-26, 2023, at six unique venues across Vancouver.

This year’s theme was Future Mythologies, highlighting forgotten histories, and empowering BIPOC artists to bring new stories into the world. “The art that we are creating and showcasing now will become the myths of tomorrow” – Stephanie Wong, Associate Artistic Director & festival co-curator.
